Falls Prevention Program

Programs We Offer

Balance Ahead by Coffs Neuro Physio

Build confidence. Reduce your falls risk. Stay independent.

Have you had a fall, feel less steady on your feet, or started worrying about falling?

Falls affect much more than your physical health. They can reduce confidence, limit activity and make it harder to stay independent.

Balance Ahead by Coffs Neuro Physio is an eight-week, physiotherapist-led falls prevention program to improve your balance and strength, understand your personal falls risk and feel more confident moving at home and in the community.

This structured program combines individual physiotherapy assessment, small-group exercise and practical falls prevention education.

What does Balance Ahead involve?

The program includes:

Two individual physiotherapy assessments
A one-hour assessment before commencing the program and another following the eight-week program.

Eight weekly small-group sessions
One-hour sessions combining targeted balance and strengthening exercises with practical falls prevention education.

A three-month follow-up appointment
An opportunity to review your progress and support your ongoing falls prevention plan.

Your initial physiotherapy assessment helps us understand the factors that may be affecting your balance, mobility and confidence so that your program can be appropriate for your individual needs.

What will we work on?

Balance Ahead, sessions will include exercises and interventions to improve:

  • Balance and stepping
  • strength
  • turning, reaching and changing direction
  • confidence with everyday movement
  • understanding your individual fall risk
  • your own ongoing falls prevention plan

Exercises are progressed according to your ability, confidence and goals.

Who is Balance Ahead for?

The program is suitable for you if you:

  • have experienced a fall or near-fall
  • feel unsteady when walking
  • are concerned about falling
  • have reduced confidence with mobility
  • can walk short distances indoors without a walking aid
  • can participate safely in a small-group environment

If you are unsure whether Balance Ahead is appropriate for you, call our team tocan discuss your individual needs.

Why focus on falls prevention?

There is rarely one single reason why someone falls.

Changes in balance, strength, coordination, sensation, vision, walking pattern and reaction time can all contribute. Medical conditions, neurological or vestibular conditions, medications and environmental factors may also play a role.

Understanding these contributing factors allows your physiotherapist to identify areas that may be addressed through exercise, education and practical strategies.

Our aim is not simply to reduce falls risk. We want to help you feel stronger, more confident and better able to continue doing the things that matter to you.

Take the next step

Don’t let concerns about falling stop you from staying active and doing the things you enjoy.

Build confidence. Reduce your falls risk. Stay independent.
