MS Exercise Groups
Maintaining progress and meeting changing needs.
After completing MS Get a Head Start, many clients choose to continue exercising in our supervised MS Groups. Two streams ensure the content matches individual goals:
Maintenance Group
Designed for people who are ambulant and wish to preserve or build on early-stage gains. Sessions, offered both on land and in hydrotherapy, emphasise cardiovascular fitness, strength circuits, dynamic balance and community support. Regular reassessment ensures exercises remain challenging without exacerbating fatigue.
Masters Group
Tailored for clients experiencing greater mobility or cognitive difficulties. Classes incorporate seated and supported standing work, task-specific practice for transfers, dual-task training and strategies to reduce fall risk. Individual goals guide exercise selection, and carers are welcome to attend for guidance.
Across both streams, numbers are capped to allow close supervision by a neuro physiotherapist. Progress is reviewed periodically, and participants can switch streams if needs change.
These groups foster social connection, routine and accountability, making it easier to maintain an active lifestyle beyond formal therapy.
